Guernsey bans smoking in island's prison

Recommended Posts

I'm surprised it doesn't go against their "human rights".

I thought it did, that's why they are allowed?

It should be banned in prisons, if nothing else, it would be a deterrent for some.

Plus, is it fair that no one else can smoke in a workplace, but convicts can?

Yesterday Guensey because the 2nd European jurisdiction to ban smoking in its prisons.

This follows the lead set by the Isle of Man in 2011.

Is this something that is likely to be rolled out across Europe in the next few years?

Don't you have anything better to do than attempt to spoil threads that mention smoking? What a saddo!

What will happen when criminals smuggle fags into their cells and smoke them? Will they get time added on to their sentence?

Generally they give time off for good behaviour. So if you break the rules you probably don't make parole.
