jazzamatazz Posted January 2, 2013 Share Posted January 2, 2013 NEW CD ‘SKETCHES OF AFRICA’ Released August 2012 Multi-award winning guitarist-composer Antonio Forcione released his new album Sketches of Africa in August 2012 to coincide with his three week residency at the Edinburgh Fringe. Inspired by recent tours through the continent of Africa, the new album showcases his compositions with local musicians who, together, evoke a joyous, spiritually beguiling homage to a continent still going through immense change. His first album in five years, Sketches of Africa has been eagerly awaited by the legion of fans Antonio has built up over twenty years of composing, performing and thrilling audiences with his dynamic talent. Collaborating with Antonio on this album, were his successful AFQ quartet Artists (Adriano Adewale, Jenny Adejayan, Nathan Thompson). Also featuring are Seckou Keita (Senegal), Chiwoniso Maraire (Zimbabwe), Juldeh Camara (Gambia), Zamo Mbutho (South Africa), Dominique di Piazza, Dado Pasqualini, Enzo Zirilli, and others. All tracks were composed and arranged by Antonio Forcione and co-produced by Antonio Forcione and Chris Kimsey. Antonio Forcione is a regular and extremely popular figure on the national and international jazz/world music scene; resident in London for more than twenty years, he has performed in venues all over the world; on solo tours, with fellow musicians and guests, and with his own bands.
