Do you mean pedestrian footbridges?

If we want people to walk, crossing the road has to be safe and accessible to all.

Footbridges are not popular because pedestrians regard them as inconvenient and unsafe, particularly at night, pretty much the same as underpasses. They are also not accessible to people who are less able.

Absolute drivel. It's nothing whatsoever to do with forcing people onto buses.

How can the Council introducing more camera enforcement be anything to do with a bus company's plans?

That was expected.

You tell us, you're the one in the know supposedly.

By your own admission the council`s policy is to get more people using public transport and out of their cars , so making life as difficult as possible for motorists is a step towards that aim. No ?

Explain to me by what twisted logic you arrive at the theory that penalising drivers who block box junctions and make illegal turns is "making life as difficult as possible for motorists"?

Enforcing box junctions will stop inconsiderate drivers from delaying other drivers. How is this "making life as difficult as possible"?

Most of the banned turns are there either for safety or to keep traffic moving. Making some of the banned turns can be extremely dangerous.

The Police can and do prosecute drivers for these offences, are they anti-car?

Just out of interest, any idea what the deal with the no LEFT turn from halfords carpark onto queens road is about? The only turn you can make is right which at certain times of the day means crossing 3 lanes of traffic doesn't it?

Granted if you know the roads you realise you can take an alternate route but what is the point of it being there.

Not sure, I'll ask.

You mean like the one at the bottom of Walkley Lane at the junction of Holme lane where you cant turn right ,but have to do a mile detour all the way up Malin Bridge and back just to get 50yds from where you started. ? That banned right turn has never been dangerous ,and until Hillsbro corner was altered to accommodate the tram there was never an issue with turning right there. That is a good example of stupid road planning of the highest order. Making vehicles travel a mile just to progress 50yds.

Banned turns arnt always there because it is dangerous , they are there purely to force traffic to go where the council want it to go .

Right-turners at that exact spot really hold up traffic big time when the Home Lane traffic dont let them out, and you can't legislate for people not letting you out at a junction.

What I have seen happen many times at this spot is someone attempting to turn right out of Walkley Lane has been let out by the Stannington/Loxley-bound traffic but not the Hillsborough corner-bound traffic, so the guy was stuck in the middle of the road blocking the Stanny/Loxley-bound traffic; if a couple of dozen people do this through the rush our then it really causes problems all the way back to Pennistone road.

I agree entirely. If I am driving towards Hillsbro Corner from Stannington and a right-turner from Walkley Lane tries to push in front i won't let him in. Nothing to do with how busy it is, it's a NO-RIGHT TURN!

The queue backing up Walkley Lane can already be a problem. The more people who try to turn right at the bottom, the longer the wait for the legal left turners.

Edit. Where are the illegal right turners trying to get to, and where from? Also, what is the "official" route that they are supposed to use?

The left turn onto Queens Rd is via Jersey Rd which runs at the side of the golf shop, and is about 30m away.
