Do what I have just done, take your TV to blackstock, cancel your license and rearrange your furniture. The saving on the License is nearly £150per year.

don't forget to go here and declare to the license plods that you don't need one

http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/check-if-you-need-one/topics/what-if-a-tv-licence-is-not-needed-top12/

It does annoy me that there is no option to choose, "don't watch any TV because I am not interested".

And then, get ready, in a year or so- to receive a bombardment of mail, reminding you that you have not got a licence and that if you wish to claim it is because you don't watch TV, that a TV 'enforcement officer' will call round so you can prove it.

These letters will become more and more threatening in tone, with red text and constant references to court appearances and absolutely will not stop unless you do allow an 'enforcement officer' into your home for a look around. (even then- relief will only be temporary- in a year or so the whole process starts up again).

However, you may soon realise that you can just say 'no' to allowing these people into your house, and, because they are a toothless organisation, they can't do a thing about it.

(At which point you may realise that you could have kept the TV all along, not bought a license, and, as long as you're OK with a bombardment of threats and you know your rights, everything would be fine.)
