Strix
Pour a load of concrete on it. you need planning permission to do that these days, as it does not allow rain water to drain Is the drop kerb already in place?
NorthernStar
Not sure of the cost but I'd imagine that grass reinforcement mesh would be both cheap and easy whilst pleasing to the tree hugging community as well as maintaining the water table. Just googled this.
Camrat78
I belived that if there was already a drive down then planning permission wasn't needed. If you are putting a brand new drive it, it will have to meet a SUDS (sustainable urban drainage system) spec, which could be pricey.
F1nutter
A lot more info required. Like strix said is kerb already dropped, any sort of drive down already etc.
airborne rat
Dropped kerbs are relatively easy to obtain permission for and the council officials who deal with this are generally very helpful. The main cost may be getting the dropped kerb completed as the council insist that you use one of their approved contractors and obviously the works will have to be completed to Highway Spec 7 and any additional requirements Sheffield Council place on it. Permeable pavements are a requirement for the driveway that the Council will advise on. Alternatively, you could just pretend the pixies did it in the middle of the night if anyone asks. gym_rat
you need planning permission to do that these days, as it does not allow rain water to drain when we looked at doing this, it all depended on the drainage - we were told by council we didn`t need PP. denlin
Well I'd check again because if you're wrong they'll make you take it up
sierraman
Gravel. You could get someone to do a cheap job of concreting it over but you might regret it a few months down to line when it starts coming to bits. Other benefit of gravel is you can hear people walking up the drive. Be sure to put weed membrane down though.
