Green Web
Just been speaking to this dieter I know who's making progress as she's now loosing weight, her nutrionists told her never to eat margarine because of the vegetable fats and other chemical nasties used to make it, margarine is only one molecule away from been plastic. Googling has bought up many different results but then these things always do.....
Janus
I saw a programme a few days ago that said margarine contained trans fats but I am not sure if that was too much of a genaralisation, there are a myriad types of marg. I use Flora and always felt it was healthy???
pottedplant
IMHO the healthiest food is that which is closer to its natural form -- so butter over marg all the way for me.
Janus
Yes, that was the suggestion on the programme. I won`t go as far as the dripping sandwiches though.

Janus
I think it`s time to invest in a block of Lurpak next time I`m in Tescos.
mc55
we consciously avoid marg, choosing butter instead - they are both bad for you, but one is natural at least.

This is Funny, I'm 61 years old and today is the first time i've ever bought BUTTER, and for the reasons stated - The Trans Fats. All my family eat "Anchor" butter except me, even butter wrapped in a Stork wrapper never fooled me. If what I read is true then I think margarine should carry a warning as an after thought, I'm not saying I'm going to like it, or that i'll stick to it, but I'm trying (very trying at times)
kidley
There was an experiment where somebody left a tub of opened margarine in their garage (on purpose) and nothing went near it including flies
