Dining in a railway carriage

Sounds like this isn't an original idea but one I know of is the Sidings Hotel, Shipton-by-Beningbrough, this is about a half hour drive north of York so probably not the one.

Loads of Railway Preservation groups do dining services, with a dining car on a train that is usually steam-hauled, mainly at weekends, although many of them take a break between Christmas and Easter, as this is a quiet time of year. Try groups such as the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway not far from Bradford, or the North Yorkshire Moors Railway near Whitby. Quite a lot of railway groups such as Narrow Gauge ones, which don't have trains with a dining car on, have a cafe in a 'grounded' dining-car at their depot/station. I went to one a couple of years ago at Kilmeaden, Waterford, Ireland, a very nice little cafe/shop, although they only do simple meals/snacks.
