The Saxons were a confederation of Germanic tribes on the North German plain, some of whom migrated to Great Britain during the Middle Ages and formed part of the merged group of Anglo-Saxons that would eventually carve out the first united Kingdom of England.

 

The Saxons, became the Anglo-Saxons after they had settled Britain and merged with the other tribes. That is the group the term represents.

White Australians resent non-white immigrants in Australia. White Americans resent non-white immigrants into the USA. That's because they feel themselves Australian or American and immigrants to be outsiders even though they themselves are descended from immigrants. Black and Asian people here may resent immigrants because they consider themselves British and see immigrants as outsiders. So it may not be so ironic.

Oh lordy, you're not one of those people who believed that white folks have an exclusive on being racist do you? Some of the most narrow minded, spleen venting racists I've ever encountered have had black skin-it's a human condition!
