Halibut
Lack of space? Only 2.27% of England's land is built on. That includes a lot of brownfield sites that could be turned into housing, schools, etc. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18623096 Whether it would be desitable to keep building is another argument but there is no shortage of space. What's more is that there is a wealth of underutilised housing available - walk along any high street and look up - wasted space above shops that could easily be turned into living accommodation. Unfortunately people don’t just need houses, they need land for producing food, about 1 acre per person to produce everything we need, so if we use every inch of land in the UK for producing what we need we can support 51 million people, but much of the UK can’t be used for anything. For the UK to be self sufficient we would need to reduce the population to about 20 million.

Services? water, electricity, where are you going to get it from and where are you going to dispose of the extra waste, look at the size of Parkwood landfill as an example, only thirty'ish years of rubbish there. Guest
Being white allows my body to create ample vitamin D by utilising the low amount of sunshine that the UK enjoys, whilst 90% of the black and Asian people living in the UK are affected by vitamin D deficiency. Funny how it's usually the white folks trying to always get a little brown..

Those with any foreign ancestry..inc your own? Where do you get all these statistics and projections? Do you av a little disc or summat? The size of the UK is well known, we know approximately how many people live here and the amount of land required to produce food, after that it’s just a bit of very basic math and common sense. England is 32 million acres and has a population of 53 million. So by your calculation you will have to get rid of 21 million people from England. So how would commonsense help you with that and are you volunteering to be the first to go?
dacrlit
Fantastic news as they have enriched and brought so much prosperity to this country in so many ways and we should be doing all we can to ensure this trend continues. No, I don't think so.
