Princess29
Does anybody have any ideas where we can go on holiday with a 6 month baby using public transport. struggling to find anything without having to change on train. I know Cleethorpes and bridlington are accessible but we have family in there places so was looking for somewhere different.
Mr Bloom
Have you thought about using National Express service? I was amazed at how cheap some of the fares are, and I booked for some relatives and they were very impressed.
alchresearch
How about Southport? It will still require a change at Liverpool Lime Street but the Merseyrail network is reliable, cheap, and caters for prams and luggage. The links to Liverpool and Chester for days out are brilliant. francypants
The only thing about Southport is that you hardly ever see the sea, it goes out for miles ! Not a bad place though.

WeX
Have you checked out Megabus? They go just about everywhere and are pretty cheap.
alchresearch
The only thing about Southport is that you hardly ever see the sea, it goes out for miles ! Not a bad place though. Depends on the time of year, we've just had a 9.9 metre tide this weekend, and the beach you can normally drive on at Ainsdale had been closed for a fortnight! Southport is OK, and there is a danger you can do everything in a day or two. But the rail network is fantastic (a day saver is just a few pounds and lets you go everywhere on the Merseyrail network) so you can visit Formby down the coast, Crosby (where the Gormley statues are, and a fantastic "brick beach" made up of war rubble), Ormskirk, Chester and Liverpool for great days out, or some of the smaller seaside towns on the Wirral like New Brighton, or West Kirby (a walk out to Hilbre Island is worth the effort). http://www.visitwirral.com/ This is a nice guide that really shows off the area: http://www.visitwirral.com/dbimgs/Wirral%20Visitor%20Guide%202012_13.pdf
