smary
I seem to remember visiting my grandad who worked at the wash house - does anyone remember this - it would have been early 50's. Or am I dreaming??

smary
I think there was a pub at the top of the road on Attercliffe road and we turned down the side of it. Its strange I must have only been 4 at the time(so a long time ago) but I have visions of the tubs with the fires underneath.

escort1
My late Mother lived on Oakes Green as a child but lost their house in the Blitz. I rememember her showing me Oakes Green when I was a child, early 70's and I think there were still some properties left then.
bs4124
I remember pushing a pram full of washing to Oakes Green wash house in the early 60's. We used to turn off Attercliffe Road at the Dog and Partridge pub to get to it. When the wash house closed we took our washing to the launderette on Attercliffe Road next door but one to Barclays Bank.
