That pic is after 1989 by the looks of it as the Uni Labs have been developed on the right. ------------------ Hi Mike, You will have known or heard of the Moorside Est top of the Blackbrook rd on the left, Many Many years ago the Est was an Orphanage and was called Fulwood Cottage Homes. The place was some form of borstal when I was growing up there, and then after being empty for a while housed refugees for a bit before being sold and converted into private houses. In 1903 the buildings was completed for habitation and in 1905 it open as Fulwood cottage homes Orphanage with thousands of kids going through the gates. Most definately a girls remand centre.When I was growing up on rochester drive I had a friend who lived in one of the houses,his mother was a matron,I think there were about two or three girls to each property, a house matron and her family.I think that's how it worked anyway.
