Bute which is as widely used in equines as paracetamol in humans is a dodgy chemical for humans. Obviously the issue is where the horse meat came from as the use of the drug may not be a prevalent. Most people consume far larger amounts of carcinogens in processed foods and foods containing artificial sweeteners, than in the odd bit of horsemeat. Stick to the rule : eat nothing which your grandmother would not have eaten as a child, and you won't go far wrong!
