Should our society continue to work outside of governement rules?

Recommended Posts

In the commnities and business I work for there are many small businessess already operating outside of governement rules, the bureacracy, H&S and red tape stifles progress because it is too time consuming and costly. It's almost the norm to pay cash in hand and work independently outside of most government rules.

Folks are now building their own homes at the rear of gardens and converting sheds into homes becuause there is no house building.

More people now ignoring laws and legislations and just doing the right thing by helping their neighbours instead of involving the authorities.

Many skill swapping services are now common place and is proving to be popular as sharing skills and working together gets things done.

The black market is very productive, fair and helps everyone, this is real progress we're making in society without government help or intevention, and now more people are seeing the results and will continue to work outside of governement rules.

Yes you're right, civil unrest on a even bigger unprecedented scale than 2011 is almost guaranteed this year, there's no big events in 2013 to distract the masses, no olympics, no world cup just more benefit cuts, higher unemployment, more homeless and the Met are still harrasing black kids and photographers.

Paragragh 4 is OK, but the rest is anti-social, and ultimately does more harm than good to our society.

Capitalist society has its own subtle but powerful enforcer though doesn't it? It's far more effective than the regulators and its impact is more profound than that of a summons for tax evasion. Businesses and individuals operating outside of the requirements of their insurance are walking on eggshells; lots will get away with it as they'll never need to make a claim, but if they do, the loss adjusters look for every single loophole, and paying off the books, erecting without planning permission and using unlicensed employees are all fair game.

So having more people homeless, more small businesses going under, goods and services increasing in price, benefit claimants with no means of toping up, nobody helping their neighbour and community and creating more civil unrest is doing more than harm good?

Agreed, but greenwebs been promoting antisocial behavior for years so no surprise there.

The government needs to drastically shrink and only concern themselves with the basics, defence, education and law & order. The days of the government running people's lives for them have to end.

+1 I would also add a basic Guaranteed Income as a safety net.
