LSS 6th BIRTHDAY

@ HOPE WORKS WAREHOUSE

Its 2013 and we find ourselves looking back at over half a decade of Liquid Steel Sessions in Sheffield. From running nights in cafes and wine bars to cavernous warehouses, we’ve brought countless artists to the city of steel with Wookie most recently making his long awaited Sheffield debut last November. As we look to the future we’re proud to present yet another Garage legend plus a fresh face both from the unrelenting Swamp81 stable. This year we’re going in …

The man that brought us the anthem ‘Neighbourhood’ and has remixed everyone from Zinc to Destiny’s Child is back once again making music on Loefah’s pioneering imprint Swamp81. Often touted as one of the key influential figures for the Dubstep phenomenon, ZED BIAS has spent over a decade perfecting the dark, Bass driven Garage and 2-Step sounds that have become synonymous with modern electronic music.

Simply put, Zed Bias is one of the forefathers of the global underground scene with a wealth of aliases, a truckload of releases and a record bag crammed with exclusives, rarities and remixes. His DJ sets are a perfect indicator of his deep knowledge of Bass music switching between Rare Groove, House, Garage, Grime, Funky and even classic Reggae riddims. The man is a true DJ’s DJ and needless to say the prospect of a 2-hour set in the newly launched Hope Works has got us very excited!

Joining Mr Bias is fellow Mancunian and label mate PALEMAN. After making waves with his first release on Damu’s Fulcrum label, the 20 year old producer who also studies Jazz Drumming at Trinity Music College is now a fixture on Swamp81’s impressive artist roster. He first got our attention with the incredible ‘Furrball’ collaboration with Zed Bias – a track that has created fervour amongst record collectors for the last six months and is still yet to see a release. Paleman’s pulsating, percussive sound is destined to blaze a trail this year and beyond. Make sure you catch this precocious talent alongside one of the true heavyweights of UK Bass music.

*CLARKS BASHMENT & DANCEHALL IN ROOM 2!*

Heating up the already cosy second room is our sister night Clarks playing the latest and greatest Bashment, Dancehall and Soca from the Caribbean and beyond. Joining Clarks resident Frenzy D is LSS DJ Autograff plus two members of the All Star Revolution band - Selekta Chesta and band leader MC KOG. It should get pretty hot and sweaty in the rave cave so you may want to take along a towel. Whistles and Horns are optional…
