Do you understand sarcasm?

Only when it's written clearly enough ;)

Besides, my reply was more for those that would have entirely missed the point.. I was going to write something of a similar vein had somebody else brought it up. You just gave me the opportunity to do so :)

she's not going to get executed. In common with almost all of the other south east Asian countries (except Singapore and Vietnam) Indonesia doesn't go in for executions any more.

..........

Indonesia - only a handful terrorists have been executed since 2001. No drugs traffickers and no murderers

.........

As recently as 2008 (but I think none since then):

Thailand - no executions since 2003 except 2 totally unexpectedly in 2009

Malaysia - 1 in 2008, 1 in 2006, before that previous one 2003

Indonesia - only a handful terrorists have been executed since 2001. No drugs traffickers and no murderers

Cambodia - 1989

Laos - 1989

Brunei - 1983

Myanmar - 1986

Philippines - totally abolished

but the reality is that unless you have money a long sentence in most of the above countrys is a death sentence

If you visit another country ,you must respect that country`s laws, and be aware of the punishments for breaking their laws. It is for the Government of any country to decide what laws they put in place ,and what punishment to impose for anyone breaking those laws.

Exactly.

If I smuggled drugs into a country which had the death penalty for such crimes, I wouldn't be too surprised to find myself sentenced to death if caught.

I'm no fan of capital punishment but this is the concern of the sovereign government of another nation.

OK, so a British citizen is involved but surely anyone visiting the UK would expect to be subject to our laws?
