VillageIdiot
Thanks, is it best to not answer them then? If its a spammer, tell them to **** off, you never know it may be someone you want to speak too... Or then again maybe not... VI
andygardener
We've had a couple of these today, I've not answered them, just wondered if anyone knew anything about them? Probably scammers from pakistan or india telling you your PC has a virus and wanting you to log onto their website so they can infect your PC and charge you a fortune to disinfect it. Obelix
It's not bound to be what Andy says. There are some nice people from the Dutch antilles that want to share their enormous lottery winnings with you as well - it could be one of them :-) Probably a virus laden Indian subcontinent call though.... ange1312
I have had the same today and yesterday, we are registered with telephone preference service to stop them. When I googled the number which began with 0405 I found people has reported it as a scam trying to get you to call a premium rate number. I thought there was a way of barring specific numbers but I'm not sure how, any tips would be appreciated.
spilldig
We have had these, but how do they get your telephone number when you are ex-directory ?
davyboy
We have had these, but how do they get your telephone number when you are ex-directory ? I don't know but I wouldn't think it was difficult to get a computer to dial any number with the Sheffield,or any other, area code and just go through them all until someone answers. Call blocking doesn't work with calls from outside the UK.
Plain Talker
We have had these, but how do they get your telephone number when you are ex-directory ? Random diallers, I'd suspect. (*grrrrr*) I'm on TPS (telephone preference service) but it doesn't stop calls from outside the UK!
