grannypat
Hi, I was a member of "Sweet & Low" the Sheffield ladies Barbershop Chorus for a few years during the late 80s. It was great being a part of such a good chorus as they were. Barbershop singing is really fantastic and I can recommend it. If you have never heard it sung live then you don't know what you're missing. The men's barbershop chorus in Sheffield used to be absolutely fantastic - don't know if they still are or even if they still exist. grannypat
Yup you're right they were called Hallmark of Harmony. They were over a hundred strong at one point and so decided to split into two separate choruses. To be in the same room when the full chorus was singing was absolutely mind-blowing. That's the thing with Barbershop singing, when they ring a chord it's a wonderful sound. I really miss it. Wish they would come down and do a gig in Dorset.
