kidley
Hi To the best of my knowledge you have to live in the area that the credit union is in, and before they will give you a loan you have to prove you can save, there was some body that came on S/F who ran one of these who explained it, you cannot just walk in and ask for a loan you have to prove your self first This explains it in a bit more detail http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/debt_e/debt_borrowing_money_e/debt_types_of_borrowing_e/debt_loans_e/credit_union_loans.htm http://www.citysave.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=22:how-does-a-credit-union-work&catid=17:about-us&Itemid=11 Edited March 12, 2013 by kidley

marmalade3
Yes I know that the loan wouldn't be instant - I helped set up the Credit Union on Woodthorpe - but at least he would be in the system and they can advise him on what to do next - rather than be fed to the sharks

kidley
Come on tell us all who this nice person is that will lend out £1500 on a whim to someone they don't know And not a Shark, this world is getting better.
marmalade3
Kidley - yes the interest rates attached to Credit Unions are much lower than a banks and they will help without all the credit checks (well that was the last time I heard). Banks for the people run by the people - we ought to get that on a banner - sounds familiar!
catpus
Morning I need a £1500.00 loan... I have bad credit from my past and cant get credit anywhere. I don't have family that can help me i'm not looking for people to comment saying I don't need a loan etc. If you can help me or know of a private loan shark please can you private message me. I'm looking for £1500.00 for 24 months. The reason I am wanting this is to consolidate my debts so I have one monthly payment. Thanks guys Ask your local CREDIT UNION for advice and a loan, but I believe you have to pay in and only get a multiple of what you've paid in - don't quote me... And if you really can't get any joy there, then contact CONSUMER ADVICE who will help you pen a letter to your Creditors offering to pay them a minimum amount.. it could be even as low as £1 a week until you can get on your feet, and it's legal. Most Companies would rather get something, than nothing. Failing this just file for BANKRUPCY, and learn from your mistakes? That's what life is all about - learning. But avoid Loan Sharks completely... out of the fat into the fire??? Good Luck.
