Council Tax Hike

Recommended Posts

There is no council tax hike (it's limited to less than 2% without a referendum).

But council tax benefit is being cut this April. Tories were bursting into tears a few months ago at the thought of a mansion tax being introduced, but are quite happy that CTB is being taken away from the poorest. Oh and this is the same month that multi-millionnairs get their tax cuts.

Please sign petition, we want an election this Spring!

10.000 in just over a month is pretty good wouldn't you say? Its not my petition by the way, I am just one of the people promoting it.

Correct - some people will be a lot worse off - people who really can't afford the extra.

Sheffield whilst freezing the council tax will make people pay more - as the police part of it will increase to cover the drop in their budget and also the new 'localised' council benefit situation which will see all working age households stumping up 20% of the bill when previously they got it all paid for them by the govt....and its going to be paid to the claimant - so guess how much of that will be spent on other things....

Is it only just over a month. Blimey, it feels much longer. After all you have been banging on about the same crap since April last year. No wonder you have had so many threads closed.

No I dont think its "pretty good". After all since you seem absolutely convinced that most of the country are angry and have had enough of this government - I would have expected it to get to the 100k target in no time at all. 1/10th of that in just over a month is hardly a roring success....and only until April to go before it closes. tick tock tick tock.

You show how desprate you are. Any other reason why you would posted ANOTHER 2 links to this sad petition in your reply?

You just keep on banging on and on.... it obviously keeps you occupied. When are you going to realise that nothing would be different. Despite what they say from the opposite side. ANY government in power would be forced to do exactly the same as what is happening now.

We call all sit on the edge feeding the PR machines with what we PROPOSE we would do. The fact is as soon as they get behind the door of No10 they would realse there is no option but to cut and cut more. It would not matter a jot which colour, leader, pledges or party line was in place.

Every government would do the same.

Just out of interest, how would you feel if by some miricle we did have another election and Tory won outright?? Would you be satisfied then as the people had spoken? Or would you continue spouting your anti tory BS again and again and again and again.....

I'd love someone to show me the link between council tax and defence spending. Council tax has nothing to do with defence.

Also bear in mind that last year council tax remained static for the first year ever. So if it does go up this year it might hurt but it would be reasonable.

How much do people have to have taken off them before they'll stand up, and not take it any more?

80% of people who recieve housing benefit, or council tax are in some form of paid employment, sorry to burst the bubble with reality.
