Jeez. The laws of Physics change and all that we can come up with is these two ridiculous historical relics.

Jurassic Park was better, and that only tinkered with the laws of Biology.

I'm disappointed. We manage to shift time and space and yet we still come up with proponents of the same old sterile debate.

Where's Nick Clegg when you need him? :D

But, oh, the humanity

Thatcher was without a doubt one of the better British PMs in the same league as William Pitt the younger, William Gladstone and Clement Attlee.

She had balls too. I wonder if any other PM could have or would have wanted even, to recapture the Falklands.

She put Britain back on the map and restored national pride after years of rotten economy, stale growth and crippling industrial strikes by unions who had long been out of contro

Were you living here then because she actually destroyed Britain as a competing nation and you certainly aren't living here under her legacy in which we have virtually no manufacturing industry left, the coal mines, the steelworks, the Sheffield cutlery industry etc all gone thanks to that hard-faced uncaring person

They did in fact capture an enigma machine from a U-Boat.

"They"? Not the Americans.

It was HMS Bulldog, not the U.S.S. Bulldog.

As for this poll, if it's someone to run the country it would have to be the Iron Lady.

King Arthur's poor judgement during the miners strike doesn't inspire confidence.

As for his policies, well his Socialist Labour Party has the same tired old ideas that failed in Eastern Europe.

To secure for the people a full return of all wealth generated by the industries and services of our nation on the basis of common/social ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange of each industry and service and to implement the most effective system of administration, control and accountability of each industry and service by the people.

Within a short while there would be queues for bread outside empty shops and American Levis 501s would be trading on the black market.

We'd all be driving Trabant type cars (although Arthur would doubtless retain his Jag).

In London, choosing which private school to send his kids to.

Arh so following in the foot steps of the likes of Blair and Diane Abbot then.

Micheal Hessletine revealed the truth about that.

I just love the way you start on Hesseltine and then the shot changes to a wide shot with the word "Barking" written bellow.

Why not face the truth.

The car industry went under due to nationalisation under the name British Leyland. They were turning out buckets of bolts off the assembly lines.

The competiton from Toyota, Renault, Volkswagen killed it.

Steel manufacturing declined because it could be made jusr as well and cheaper in foreign countries.

Thatcher wasnt running the USA but the American steel industry went the same way round about that time. Pittsburgh and other steel producung cities became what was known as the Rust Belt Nobody is going to buy steel that's much more costly if steel of equal quality can be bought cheaper. That applies to domestic as well as foreign markets

The miners unions with their constant strikes savaged the industry to the point where it just became feasible for coal which was also cleaner burning to be imported from abroad.

I happened to be in England for Christmas 1973. It was sad and horrible. Brown outs, offices, shops and stores without electricity, Christmas lights none existent, people shivering from the cold in their homes and even electric train service affected all beacuse the miners were out.... again.

I dont know if the Comrades were behind these strikes but militant union activity did a lot of damage to British industry at a critical time when there was intense competition from a resurgent Germany on the move and a booming industrially expanding Japan

It's not as if the miners were exactly poor either. The richest family on my street in Parson Cross was the family of a miner. Their kids got Christmas presents we could only dream of. That was probably way before your time, early 1950s

The film was probably made by American's. They usually disregard facts when making a film. I remember seeing one where they captured an Enigma machine in WW2 and broke the Axis codes.

That's the reason I avoided seeing that film, as they'd re-written history to suit Hollywood

Yes she did, they kept her ears apart
