When Scargill was president of the Miners union he would have been on a decent salary ,can you blame him for that ? Incidentally to all who give to charities take a look at what the head honchos in those establishments are on and see where the bulk of your money goes.We need another Scargill now to take this government on ,at least he had a go...Mind you theres not a lot left to fight for is there, Thatcher et al saw to that.

Thatcher, for all her faults she had more integrity in her little finger than that corrupt thieving scumbag Scargill.

How come you have so much intimate knowledge of the premiers digit-were you two in a special relationship?

Yes, Harleyman, but you didn't live here and you don't now. We are sinking under what she did. You got your education here but you left your intelligence behind if you think she did anything good for those of us still living here

The way Harleyman goes on you would think Thatcher herself did the fighting. She went as far south as the Isle of Wight.

Were you living here then because she actually destroyed Britain as a competing nation and you certainly aren't living here under her legacy in which we have virtually no manufacturing industry left, the coal mines, the steelworks, the Sheffield cutlery industry etc all gone thanks to that hard-faced uncaring person
nay, britain had already died by then, she just closed the doors. Its like calling the doctor who turns off the life support machine a murderer

Facts.

Thatcher never debated with Scargill; shared a platform with Scargill.

Why?

He was the most formidable debater and to be avoided as he would wipe the floor with any oppenent.

If winning debates hands down means anythinng then it is that Scargill would carry the vote.

Thatcher remains a nasty unpleasant bully, totally manipulative and self serving. She loathed the working classes and the trade unions and strove to protect a class system and establishment inequality that Dave and Nick continue today.

Scargill is self serving, didn't loathe and wanted equality.

We have the society we deserve; split and unfair.

oh yawn, another working class hero

Thatcher didn't need to debate with Scargill, he was not an MP or a political opponent, he represented a union. Do other PM's debate issues with industry representatives in public? No.

Scargill was not a great debater, he was just a rude bully stuck in the past, believing he who talks the longest and loudest wins. He didn't debate with anyone, he shouted what he wanted to say and ignored what anyone said back.

If Thatcher loathed working class people, why did she allow so many of them to become middle-class?

Scargill is and was an idiot. He put more miners out of work than anyone. Millions of people prospered under Thatcher. No-one prospered under Scargill except for himself.

I think you are confusing class and occupation. There was an expansion of white-collar work at low grades, but this was poorly remunerated and anyone who believed they were then middle -class would be deluded. Most of the prosperity enjoyed under Mrs T was illusory, such as the sale of council houses. In the end the house was the same but the tenant exchanged a fixed rent for a variable mortgage, and now many OAPs are unable to finance repairs.

That must have been his brother I watched on Question Time making monkeys out of Tories and journalists with an unflappable style and an infallible grasp of detail.Would you care to indicate who he bullied?
