Westwood Dam had houses at the far side many moons ago .. It also used have a slagheap on the far bank so it sounds like it may be the one you are thinking of ?
And there was also a church and Sunday school.

Here is a map of c. 1890 showing the "Westwood Rows" cottages and the Sunday school.

There are several houses in Howbrook itself - I imagine once farm cottages but now all renovated. Of course, High Green is a village with hundreds of houses.
Were talking pre 1950's when High green was just a small village itself.

Thats fantastic so there could have grown into a village, I don't see the dam on there though I presume that was built later on.

Thank you thats great.
