RON VAUDRY

Ron Vaudry, was born 1956, looked around and said, “You can’t be serious!” Never the class clown, but rather making fun of the class clown, Ron found his niche.

Finding the opportunity to perform on stage for the first time in 1979 on labour day weekend in a small club in Montreal for the Jerry Lewis Joke-a-thon.Twelve noon to twelve midnight, all proceeds going to Muscular Dystrophy. "Good deposit in the karma bank!", he thought. Performing twelve sets that day, the hook was set and he never looked back.

Quickly becoming a forerunner on the Canadian comedy scene. Ron has appeared on numerous television shows in Canada, The United States, and the UK, as well as many of the top Comedy Festivals around the world.

An uncompromising master in his field of hard hitting social and political satire, Ron’s reputation as a comic’s comic has not detered audiences from enjoying his unique comedic perspective around the world,

"As hard-boiled and urban as any native New Yorker." - - The Scotsman

"Biting, sometimes cynical and almost always angry, he's mimicked but rarely mastered." - - The Sun.

"His rapier wit and existential angst shine through in his act like a dark beacon from hell." - - NOW Magazine.

"He has about as much vulnerability as a porcupine on amyl nitrate. Vaudry is funny and fun to watch." - - EYE Weekly.

Intelligent, witty and sardonic, Ron Vaudry is the thinking man's comedian. A satirical genius teetering precariously at the edge of comedy, Vaudry guides audiences through a series of hilarious, yet thought provoking political and social observations.

A favourite at both the Just For Laughs International Comedy Festival in Montreal and The Edinburgh Comedy Festival in Scotland, Ron has parlayed his standup success into headlining appearances at major comedy clubs on several continents. He is also a favourite at campuses across North America and the world.

His numerous television appearances include CBC's "COMICS!", Best of the Fest BBC3, "Comedy @ Club 54", and "The Late Show" with Arsenio Hall. He has also been featured on several radio programs including CBC's "Madly Off In All Directions" and "Definitely Not The Opera."

Cynical, angry and always controversial, Ron is truly a talent to be savoured.

Owen has been performing stand up comedy for twenty eight years and has performed all over the World. His speciality, outside of the comedy circuit, is the one man show, once described by Time Out as Stand-up theatre. JAMIE SUTHERLAND

Liverpool has a history for producing some of the countries finest comedy talent, and Jamie Sutherland can now be added to that fine list.

A headline act on the comedy circuit, working for some of the countries finest clubs including Sheffield Last Laugh, Jongleurs, and Comedy Central. Jamie also provides pre match entertainment at Premiership clubs Stoke City, Wigan Athletic.

A very original act, who will keep you amused with gags, tales, and stories. Jamie is a modern act, with many observational topics, and up to date material, and don’t worry if you prefer a good old style gag, he has plenty of them thrown in, ensuring a performance that will touch everyone’s buttons.

Jamie is one of only a few comics that can tailor his performance to suit your audience, extremely popular with corporate clients, and he's equally at home performing to crowds at his nearby social club.

He can be seen regularly at Brinsop Comedy Club, Bolton, were he has been resident compere since Nov 2005, he has supported some of the biggest names in comedy, and has gained a reputation as one of the rising stars of comedy with the sell out crowds, and his fellow comedians.

Jamie has taken his show into Europe, entertaining the masses of holidaymakers, and in 2008 he stretched as far as Sydney, Australia. He has also had sell out shows 2011, 2012 Sheffield Comedy Festival.

“undeniably brilliant” Chortle

“Sutherland combines the two style of observational and story telling, and really is very funny.” The Stage

We are 3 final year event management students at Sheffield Hallam, as part of our final year module we are required to host a fundraising event.

The charity chosen to raise money for is Artfelt - Artfelt transforms the wards of Sheffield's Children's Hospital and also organises workshops for the children to take part in.

We are organising an international talent show on 18th March 6.30pm at the Common Room and would love if members of your society would be interested in giving a 5-10 minute performance?

We feel that having a comedian will add a great atmosphere to the event and we also would like a wide range of talent to showcase. It would be great if your society wishes to be involved

Let me know if anybody would like to take part as soon as you can.

My email address is a9021467@my.shu.ac.uk

Kind regards,

Lyndsey
