davewhits
Can anyone remember the football pitch off Matthews Lane at Norton I dont mean the old Gleadless Valley school pitches that are now Sheffield United junior blades,it was further down on the left before you got to Norton Hall (Beechwood Clinic).I played in a cup final on their for Lowedges cub scouts against Holmhirst cub scouts, about 40 years ago now (that makes me feel old!) Jack_Russell
Yes I remember it..IIRC it was down near the junction with Buntings Nook...I remember a sign nailed to a tree which said ( I think) " Throstles FC". Not there any more, as housing was built on it. I don't know who owned the pitch. Hope that helps
redted50
Yep,we used to play up there in the 90s against Throstles F.C. they sounded to me like student types, might be wrong though.
OPEN BORDERS
As kids we knew it as the 'Kestrels' pitch.

jack reacher
I first played up at Bunting Nook in 1965 for Birley amateurs a side that had Derek dooley as the chairman.they used to play in the old shirts Derek got from Hillsborugh , button up collars and cuffs , very dated even then. Did anyone turn out for them around that time ?
