It's a fact of medical science that male conceptions outnumber female ones, and that the number of live births reflect that. This is right across the world and China is no different to anywhere else. It's one of the first things anybody learns when they begin to study demography. Male/female conceptions are around 115/100. But male still births are higher so male/female births are around 105/100. Male death rates are higher at every age group too, so women start to outnumber men in mid life (though the precise time does vary between cultures). By the time of 100 years of age, there's many times more women than men and they outnumber them 8 to 1.
