Bizzy_Lizzy
I'm currently sat watching the programme on itv about organ donations and the lack of heart donations, so i thought maybe it's time to look into joining the register. The problem is i received 8 blood transfusions back in 1988 after contracting meningitis and suffering renal failure which restricts me from giving blood. Does anyone know if this also restricts me from organ donation??? Seems it could be a real shame i may not be able to return the favour.
geared
The website is http://www.organdonation.nhs.uk/ -I think it's down atm tho (good old NHS IT) It should explain everything.
Jillybabes
I don't think it would restrict you from organ donation, if you are healthy now and your organs are in working order and could potentially save a life, they consider everyone. Bizzy_Lizzy
I looked on the site it doesn't mention anything about it, it just says organ suitability will be checked at the point of donation although it seems very pointless in joining the register and taxpayers paying a surgeon to chop me to bits only for them to be refused at a later point. Super Hans
Organ donation should be opt out not opt in.
francypants
Organ donation should be opt out not opt in. I agree totally with this.
geared
Is it isn't it? It's just not enforced.
aliceBB
Is it isn't it? It's just not enforced. No, it's not. Unless before your death you have made clear your wish to donate your organs when you die, doctors have no automatic right to use them.
MrSmith
Organ donation should be opt out not opt in. I agree, alternatively people on the organ register take greater priority over people that aren’t if they ever need one.
truman
I agree, alternatively people on the organ register take greater priority over people that aren’t if they ever need one. Should that go for blood transfusion as well?
