logan.m.p
Had a 53 plate Cooper S for just over 3 years. Nice little car, but had issues. As with any used car, make sure you have it checked out before purchase. There are also lots of mini forums you can visit for advice. All in all the mini is a good solid car and would recommend. scrapper
what were the issues, what are they like on petrol,1600cc.
alchresearch
I'd say find a good local independent garage for servicing and repairs and ask their advice. I specialise in Pugs and get asked a lot about which is the best model or engine to look for. A work colleague had a Mini and he should have just had his monthly salary paid to BMW for the amount of money he spent there.

DaisyBoo
i have a mini 02 plate it was an automatic, after having it a few months the gear box went and it cost be over £1500 to get it fixed (had to get it changed to a manual) friend had one and the engine blew up after a few months. this friends mum had one and her gearbox also went (maunal) i wouldnt buy another mini again unless it was brand new with long warranty. the road tax is really expensive as well (£130 for 6 months) and not great on petrol. i would go for something more economical with cheaper tax. arrowhead
Had one for a year but it was a Cooper S. Couldn't wait to get rid of it. Car itself was nice, but dreadful on Sheffield roads that are full of pot holes. I thought my spine would snap on occasions. Plus it had (and i think they all do) run flat tyres that were not only uncomfortable but very very expensive.

Resident
TBH they should be banned from sale under the trades description act. There's nothing 'mini' about them, especially when they're the size of a modern Ford Fiesta.

There's nothing 'mini' about them, especially when they're the size of a modern Ford Fiesta. Yeah, I thought that too...Someone at work has a new one, and it's flippin huge! Plus, they're looking less and less like the mini of old (which I think was the original intention). It's rare these days you see an original mini, but I happened to see one the other day, and was fairly shocked just how 'small' they are/were.
