Freeloaders taking advantage of the rail landslip.

Recommended Posts

People are actually getting on the bus just to ride about in it because they've nothing better to do?

Really, are you sure?

Sure they are. "Saturday afternoon, not much to do. Shall I go into town? Yeah might as well I can get there for free". Does this sound like such an impossible or unlikely scenario to you?

you have just advertised to everyone that you can do this, thus making the problem worse.

Complain to the train operating company and maybe they'll start checking tickets, writing on a public forum isn't going to help.

Good, the busier it gets the more people will start kicking off then they might actually start checking tickets.

Why would they kick them off if they don't check their tickets?

(I realise it's not Sheffield but if mods feel it's better suited in General then feel free, but it is SY Travel)

First Mainline, Northern Rail, Travel South Yorkshire, whoever, should be doing something about the freeloaders that are filling the rail replacement coaches at the expense of those who have bought tickets and passes.

Those of you who don't use it, basically anybody can hop on the coach without ticket (At Donny there is no excuse) and leave some old pensioner with a pass, or somebody who has paid for a pass or a ticket out in the cold, even though there's always a guy there with a clipboard from the rail company with the timetable.

For those of you who do use it, or those who pay for buses and train tickets and don't want subsidise for chancers free travel, you should complain here.

Thanks for the tip-I will stick the heads up on the other forums I use.

I'm sure it does happen on the train but at least if someone does get found without a ticket they even have to pay or get off, and there are many more seats on the train, and the very fact that people know for a fact they're not going to get checked, people just get on willy nilly when they're at a loose end.

It's amazing that every day, as more people realise this, more and more people are getting on.

And you're right I hope it does kick off is somebody with a ticket can't get on because maybe they'll do something about it.

So there is no evidence of this happening yet you're publicising it for (maybe even encouraging) people to take advantage of it?

Can't be long before the queues to visit those jewels of the North such as Goole and Scunthorpe stretch, oooh, say half the length of the bus.

I've been on this service and it only takes one of the 3-4 bus/rail companies employees to check thickets, but they cant be bothered.

I went from Doncaster to Hull on Saturday by way of the bus replacement service. No one checked our tickets at any point.
