charliewag
before the flood there was a big shoal of dace on the stevenson rd. stretch but since then i've not caught one from anywhere on the don. there will be dace somewhere, it's a question of fishing different stretches or gaining info off other anglers

chidorii
In September I caught a fair few in the Don the last few stretches before Rotherham to be precise. Nothing too big, approx 6oz tops. Theres a large head of them in the Rotherham canal for sure. I've had some at 10oz which is a good size really. I think they have a mental phase just after spawning where they bite confidently and often. If I recall correctly dace are pretty early to spawn as they judge it by day light so maybe you will get one very soon!
