People say they can talk to the dead, whereas others can get exactly the same effects (Derren Brown etc) using what they openly state are psychological techniques. Other people say they can cut women in half, yet others can get exactly the same effect (Paul Daniels etc) using what they openly state are illusions and squishing people in boxes. No one, ever, anywhere, believes the second group of people when they say it's genuine. Lots of people believe the first when they say it's genuine. The only difference being people actively want to believe the first group, usually as they're grieving. Other than that, there's literally no need to see it as beyond a stage show.
