Super Hans
This cool little website might contextualise immigration around the world for those who have difficulty visualising it. Click on the left for emigrants, and on the right for immigrants. People Movin'. Some people seem to think that the UK is an immigrant's idea of heaven, when in fact the vast majority of people would rather settle elsewhere. SevenRivers
6,955,738 migrants in the UK. 4,666,172 UK emigrants around the globe. By my reckoning that means the net effect of immigration is we're about 2.3 million people up. Thanks for the link Super Hans.

And when you take in to consideration the size and population of each country we are the country least able to absorb them.
Mecky
And when you take in to consideration the size and population of each country we are the country least able to absorb them. Why is that then?
LeMaquis
And when you take in to consideration the size and population of each country we are the country least able to absorb them. Really? I'd have thought Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Malta, Liechtenstein and many other smaller countries would have much less space than us.

tinfoilhat
That's an obviously incorrect statement. Only to a certain extent. If you take the square milage of the uk we have the room but take out remote places like the highlands of Scotland, welsh hills and national parks, that's got to bring the amount of space down quite a bit. We build an awful lot on flood planes which is daft, is that out of choice ? And that's before we start talking about pressure on schools, hospitals and transport network in particular. No, it's incorrect full stop. MrSmiths claim is plain wrong. Untrue. False.
