BEDROCK
Hello, upon writing a CV and Cover Letter, in what instance should you always use First or Third Person or Past or Present Tense? What are the Pros and Cons of using each and what just sounds right in anything you write?
lilypiglet
C.V is your past. Tecnically 3rd person, but headed by your name then relevant bullet points read as 'states name' . has gained qualification in.. .attended... Cover letter is personal to you and current, so therefore 1st person 'I' and present tense. I enjoy... I motivate myself.. I believe I'm... That's my opinion, but I dare to say I'll be shot down in flames by a pedant at some point!!
Strix
nope - I quite agree, but CV more ... Qualifications - blah blah, than rambling and verbose I'm sure there's a term for the style - it's not actually third person, as it isn't narrative, so no '(s)he has done this' - more the format of formal sign writing and labelling

BEDROCK
So everything on the CV sounds best if you use "ed" instead of "ing" so past tense instead of present tense?
