I1L2T3
lol people on here are obsessed by the UAF on here Curious isn't it. It's almost like people expect there to be no counterweight to, or opposition to, violent far-right organisations like the EDL.

alchresearch
McCluskey was trying to organise a national strike last year. He was also trying to make sure that any strikers still got full pay. He also denied giving millions to the Labour party. When pressed how much it actually was he said "£3 million". max
Petitioning ambulance crews to go on strike. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-21417760 They keep trying different sectors of work to go on strike, fail to get what they want and move on to the next sector Is there anything that the management are intending with which you disagree? Such as bringing in unskilled assistants with little training, de-recognition of trades unions, de-skilling of existing staff, demotion of existing staff, etc.? If so, how would you go about protecting the service and the staff's service conditions?

percy filth
At least the union is fighting to maintain a decent service. You should support them otherwise next time you are having a heart attack they might not be able to respond. On the other hand you will have a range of private providers to choose from. Only they'll be rubbish and won't get to you in time. I think it would be great to have a better ambulance service. You would have to be mad not to want that. The only problem is how to pay for it. That's a question no one seems capable of answering.
Happ Hazzard
The union couldn't give a toss about "maintaining a decent service". They are just out for more money for their members. Set up private ambulance services, and make dinosaurs like McCluskey homeless and destitute. There's no way they'd be able to compete in the real world where you actually have to be good at your job just to get by.

Unions are a good thing (I belong to one), but its also true a lot of them (including mine) do have extremists from the left wing involved who have their own agenda and are quite influential on policy. Happ Hazzard
My mum was a union delegate for COHSE, long since retired, and she is absolutely disgusted by what unions have become. In her own words, more interested in putting people from Africa on the front covers of their brochures, and having nice glass offices in London, than they are about helping WWC people that they were set up to represent.
