Moving to Sheffield, won't know anyone

My jobs secure, so I'm not worried about that.

I shouldn't even be moving to Sheffield, that's the thing that's really getting to me. No offence to anyone in Sheffield but my life was meant to be in Leeds *sigh*.

I'm hoping that once I move into a house share that the house mates will be nice and friendly and be social with me, like going to the pub etc

Look at it another way - maybe its EXACTLY where you're meant to be, and not in Leeds. I wasn't meant to move here but can't imagine not living here now.

See it as an adventure - and if it really sucks you could just move to Leeds, its not like you need a passport or emigration papers, its less than an hour up the motorway!

Plus, by the sounds of it, you can go out and socialise and be all footloose and fancy free without having to organise a childminder! Go forth and meet people, and don't think about where you "should" have been, cos if you're not meant to be here something will stop you.

The only reason I should've been in Leeds was to start a new life with my (ex) gf. I viewed a house in Sheffield tonight and it just doesn't feel right moving, you know?

Yup, I know exactly what you mean. Sounds like you need a night out with your mates who know the whole story. I'd say trust your instincts, but if you've just broken up with someone your instincts could be all over the place.

I've moved city once or twice, and when I moved here I didn't know anyone. I actually found it easier moving on from my break up cos I was in a whole new place so it was like starting again. My decision to move here was based entirely on a job.

Look at other houses and mull it over...

I mainly took this job so we could live together in Leeds as that's where she loves now.

I'm sticking the job out as it's a good job.

Sadly I don't have that many mates these days and the ones I trust are all busy this weekend :(.

I'm glad things worked out for you :). Hopefully they will for me too

Know how you feel there too - the mates I have left are far far away.. It worked out ok, but i wont deny its been hard - hell I went to a gig on my own tonite cos the people I have met here aren't into the same things as me. I just keep working at meeting new folk, on here and in coffeeshops.. its done wonders for my confidence :)

Nah not really, I did think it was going to be weird but it was actually really good. I saw kvelertak tonight, and think i'm going to see if i can get a ticket to see enslaved the week after next. The thought of going to a gig on my own hadn't crossed my mind before but I'm glad I did - there were quite a few folk stood about on their own, now I want to go again!!

Metal!! specifically shouty norwegian men \m/ (-_-) \m/ hehe

I go to the cinema on my own sometimes too - its so much easier going in the daytime cos i dont need to find a childminder, and then if i see a scarey pants horror movie its still daylight outside so all is well :)
