There were riots in London, 1st May, but the media decided what you need to know, and better the children do not know, or they might get upset. Meanwhile the Riots in Europe, North Africa, Middle East, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia as well continue, but its just not newsworthy. One must not give the poor, the struggling the knowledge that their plight is anything BUT individual, as they might get together and complain en-mass, just like people are doing everywhere else.

The UK will be the last, if ever, to notice they are being robbed blind, the welfare state being sold off, as we have made sure the population are crap at maths, so could not work it out if it was in front of them. Keep the ignorant, ignorant is my motto, so they will not know what is going on till its too late. Feed them stories about celibrities and other candy floss distractions, lots of sport too. Give then horsemeat or other crap, they would not know the difference and do not car anyway, it’s the way politicians and corporations like it.

The answer is , possibly. The fact is, the UK GINI coefficient is rising. Its currently around .35 and will in all likelyhood rise as a result of the changes in benefits, and the tax breaks for the top 10%.

The CIA generally consider an index number of .45 to be a good indicator of civil unrest and potential civil war. We are no where near that number but when you think Sweden has a GINI of .25 you can see we are far too close to it.

It is likely that by 2015 every body except the top 10% will have seen a decrease in there income in real terms.

This inbalance can only highten tensions, and particularly volatile areas of deprevasion will in all likelyhood explode into violence as the politically dienfranchised have no way to express their sense of unfairness.

An also "it depends if it gets hot". Weird but true, the hotter it is the higher the chance of riots.

Thanks for that Cuey. It makes intuitive sense that income inequality is a factor in rising tensions.

Do you have a link about the CIAs views on the gini coefficient, I'd be fascinated to read about it?
