Spiky_Head
You clearly have a rather limited understanding of humanity and human nature. What a shame. You clearly have no idea about economics. What a shame. Let me ask you something, if you were poor and couldnt afford the basics like food, a roof over your head or toothpaste, would you feel its your right to have a child? Forget the fact you cant pay for it. Forget the fact that its the taxpayer who will pick up the tab. Forget it all. Do you feel it was your right to have a child if you wanted one bad enough? Happ Hazzard
People should only have children if they can afford to succesfully raise them. It should be socially unacceptable to breed fecklessly.

In short, yes. I believe it's a human right to have children.
Happ Hazzard
It is a human right to have children, but it is not a human right to have them paid for by other people.
natjack
It won'e be long before some stuffed Tory dummy revives this idea from the 1700s: http://art-bin.com/art/omodest.html You do realise this was written as a satire, don't you?

AdamSmith
In short, yes. I believe it's a human right to have children. it is most definatly a human right to have children.....but not at the expense of others, but then the ones that bang on about rights usually contribute the least. Happ Hazzard
What does successfully raising a child mean? Raising them to be financially independent of both their parents and the state.
Halibut
Raising them to be financially independent of both their parents and the state. Really? Is that the only criterion you can come up with for a definition of successful?

Some humans are more selfish than others so wouldn't be that bothered if it was socially unacceptable to breed fecklessly.
