Kandg Posted March 6, 2013 Share Posted March 6, 2013 I wrote here a few months ago as our reception venue ( Potting shed, Barnsley) had gone into administration and we lost all our money. To be honest it turned out better for us in the end as our new venue was fab! We got married in Sheff town hall, lovely - very nice staff. Ceremony about 20min then to the peace gardens and winter gardens for our photos - we were blessed with a lovely sunny Feb afternoon. Our reception was at Kelham Island Museum. We found the staff before the wedding to be very good. Well organised and flexible. We dropped everything off a couple of nights before and they decorated for us. It cost £1200 for the hire which was more than we wanted to pay but everyone loved the unusal venue and we got some fab pictures! We did have a slight issue on the evening which has been resolved to our satisfaction by the manager. We did find the venue to be cold, though but this wouldnt be prob in summer months. We chose 24degrees, an aucoustic band from Barnsley for our music - we didnt want a disco! They were incredible and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended - £350 for 2 45min sets. Lovely lads. Food was by Hazels who were very good too. The food was very hot and service was excellent, they were so friendly. Sausage and Mash followed by tea/coffee £18 per head. Would def recommend. We booked a casino - Jacks. Unfortunatley they let us down and didnt attend. I rung and they didnt answer but emailed the next day to say they double booked us. They did offer us a photo booth session as compensation but it was of no use to us. At the time I was really upset as I wanted the casino but nobody else seemed bothered and we all had a great night! So, despite our initial disppointment that things didnt turn out with our original venue we couldnt have asked for a better day! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
