Deer culling on massive scale.

Recommended Posts

While it is possible to persuade humans to use condoms etc, persuading wild deers to practice coitus interruptus and safe sex is a big ask.

The deer will find a level that is sustainable without our interference, unlike humans they will stop breading when food is scarce.

Have you any evidence that this is the case or did you conveniently make it up?

Humans have made Earth their own. We have the power to control and change our surroundings.

Flip the equation on it's head and think of all the animals that we save.

Anyway, more cheap venison coming our way......what's not to like?!

Surely we can find a way to do both?? The world is a big place, there's plenty of room for more people, we need to spread out more!

:hihi:

 you were joking weren't you????????????

The problem is that food isn't scarce because the food that they are eating is being grown for human consumption. Which is why they are on the cull list, food and money. Like badgers, who will be facing extermination (extinction?) to appease farmers.

and humans have wiped out their natural predators..centuries ago.

Just imagine if some other animal developed the ability to farm humans for meat. As Mr Degrasse Tyson puts it, an alien intelligence could see us as food and little else. I am a misanthrope. This planet would be so much better without us.

Why is it that our species controls and manages all other life forms on the planet and yet when it comes to human overpopulation, the taboo continues, as politicians, those with the actual power are too gutless to address it?

The story would still sound right if deer was removed and human inserted.

Mr Smith, we were having the very same discussion at home last night when we heard about the cull.

We love to control other populations, but never look a little bit closer to home. And no, of course im not advocating culling humans, im advocating a serious discussion on the over population on the planet and its resources and how we could control that.

The world population is on the up, but we can't preach to anybody about population control because our own is booming. I would like to see a brave politician to start pushing a population control agenda both at home and globally.

I agree, we need to lead by example and find a better why that perpetual expansion, surely we can find a way to survive and be prosperous without the need to constantly increase our population.

Politicians are too short sighted so won't address the problem; they are only interested in winning the next election.

And yet not a glimmer of a solution from either of you. I'm interested to here from you both how these "gutless" politicians are to solve the world population crisis.

How do you stop one human from doing what is natural? Cull? Genetics? Law?

We can't solve the problem globally but we can lead by example and allow our population to decline, something that would happen if we stopped inward migration, people living in the UK tend to consume significantly more than people from Africa so reducing our population is more beneficial than reducing their population. If enough developed countries followed our example the world’s resources would last longer.

The UK's resources can only sustain a quarter of its population, and the environmental impact of transporting food from round the world just to feed our overpopulated country is immense and uses vast amounts of the worlds resources, it would make much more sense to reduce our population and grow the food we need here.

In which case we do have these politicians which you agree don't seem to exist in the mainstream. We have the BNP. Are you suggesting we turn towards the BNP?
