New plans for Don Valley Stadium

Recommended Posts

I'm surprised that we've gotten to a state where people question everything someone in the council does with no proof.

Since the possible closure was discussed months ago, I'm sure a lot of people have thought of alternatives that they could do with the land/existing buildings.

But if the council was to spend money converting it, they'd be accused of waisting public money...

Since when has Richard Caborn been part of the council.

It seems as though the decision to close Don Valley was possibly taken three months ago.

Richard Cabourn who was one of the original organisers to build the white elephant Don Valley now seems to be organising to rebuild it again as a Rugby Stadium .

If this is true then all the recent council meetings to close the stadium presumably to save money was a load of bolony.

As usual.

You also like going back three pages of text and mis-reading it. An expert Troll.

Two things:

  1. I never never talked about Caborn in my original post
  2. Your original accusation was against the council - that they'd already agreed this and that the reason for closing the stadium was 'bolony'.

Keep up.

LMAO - I notice you waited patiently for someone else to post this link so you could jump on it later in the thread.

Very nicely done...

I do not need to look for facts from else where as I have been around the Sheffield socialists:hihi:and their schemes from the beginning.

I was once sat in the Tea Gardens pub when a prominent socialist member of the council jumped up telling all and sundry that he had just discovered a million pounds surplus funds that they didn't know they had.

He is an M.P. now living the life of Riley on a nice little country retreat.

Good for you. Who lets facts get in the way of a good story?

Perhaps you have misread the words .

I.E. If this is true.

If this is true.

Forgive me if I am wrong but I get the impression that you are getting personnel, have I perhaps hit the nail on the head somewhere along the line.

If what is true? That Caborn has a plan? That the council announced months ago that they were looking at closing the stadium?

Nah - not personal. How is asking for facts personal? Asking which street you live on - THAT's personal.

I've nowt to do with Caborn, the council or what plans are in place for Don Stadium. I've not been there for 10+ years.

I just love a good Troll session and have some time in my hands while I wait for something to finish before I can move onto something more interesting.

That's why a 10,000 seat rugby stadium fitting on 1/3 of the plot of DVS is a great idea - it is sustainable. If it's built with an artificial pitch (as is likely) it can be used throughout the day, every day of the year. DVS is an aging stadium which would never again have seated 25,000 paying spectators for a rare athletics meeting.

Freeing up so much land by building a new rugby stadium will also allow other investment onto the site. I personally wouldn't be bothered if it was a new Sainsburys and housing so long as it paid its own way. It sounds as if the universities and other bodies with money to spend are definitely interested in the land, though.

whys a 10.000 seat rugby stadium a great idea? when the crowds are 1,000, 1500 tops.

Why's a 10,000 seat rugby stadium a great idea when the crowds are 1,000/1500 tops?

Because if they built a 1500 seater stadium then Eagles would never be allowed into the Superleague and the Titans would never be allowed into the Premier League.

Personally, I'd start by building a stadium with a smaller capacity but with the plans to build further stands when necessary. To do that you'd need to plan the layout of a 10000 seater stadium anyway.

If the clubs can come up with the money to build the stadium in one go, all the better. Perhaps they might look to build offices in all 4 corners of the ground to generate income?

Take your point, but the eagles crowds are never going to be big, pity really,

maybe try and get yorkshire to play cricket again in the city.
