If for whatever reason these people went away, their parties would be nothing and vanish into obscurity; there is no strength and depth in these parties. This is a silly joke as the SNP have longevity,and I remember Maggie MacMurdo speaking on Grampian TV during the mid 1970s.The commentator that day said the Scottish soccer team had more chance of winning the World Cup that the SNP had of gaining power. None of the other parties were ever going to adopt the SNP's main policy though. A better comparison might be the success the Green Party had in the European elections in 1989. The result of that was 'green washing' by the other parties and the Green Party's support collapsed. UKIP's main policy isn't immigration but withdrawal from the EU and the effect that will have on immigration as well as on other issues such as sovereignty. UKIP just uses immigration as a means of getting support for EU withdrawal.
