C4 News tonight and Conservative Hypocrisy

Recommended Posts

Don't forget that the government has gradually forced everyone to have a bank account in order to function.

Now that they have nearly abolished any purely cash payments, the banks have started to try charging for current accounts.

Plenty of people still pay cash in hand for work carried out for them. Plenty of self employed Tradesmen still do some cash jobs that the good chaps at the HMRC never get to know about . Im sure the Government would Like to abolish cash payments , but it will never happen.

Havnt you ever have a job done by a chippy/spark or Brickie , paid cash and the tradesman has knocked off the old VAT for a cash job . ? you save a few Quid ,he has cash in hand ,nothing goes through his bank, no paper trail for the Taxman to follow ......Everyones a winner.

But that's tax evasion! - And we all get very angry on this forum when people avoid tax (let alone evade it) don't we?

Wouldn't the repercussions of not bailing out the banks have had a cataclysmic effect on the economy Supertramp?

Probably the same effect as bailing them out to be honest, the people lose money or the government loses money and the government's money comes from the people. However the markets would mean the banks would have to reassess how much risk they take with their customer's money. As it is they don't care as they'll get bailed out.

Nice one Supertramp, you've summed it up succinctly.

Yes, because Labour were so reliant on the financial sector. What do you think paid for all their increased public spending during the so-called boom years?

Everyones a winner, unless for some reason you need a child educating, or get ill, or want someone to tell your pilot where to land the plane, or need to deal with some foreign sorts after some argy bargy. At which point just paying your way seems a lot more sensible even if you object to how some of it's spent, that's what your votes for.
