The date of Easter

Recommended Posts

Easter is tied to the feast of the Passover - which pre-dates Christianity by (just a) bit.

A lot! Well over 1300yrs., in fact.

Passover: instituted in Jewish Year 2448, which was 3325 yrs. ago [= 1312 BCE].

Easter: instituted no earlier than about 1983 yrs. ago [30 CE] but probably at least a few centuries more recently.

But my point was not about whose festival is older: rather, about the unpredictability of the Easter Bank Holidays' dates.
