Why the Media blackout?

Recommended Posts

I agree. We are fed state propaganda under the guise of a free press.

We do have an 'elite' that controls the media, avoids paying tax and exploits the workers whilst blaming benefit scroungers for the mess we are in. The truth is too hard to swallow.

I have to agree with this. The way things are going it's hard to argue against.

Basic common sense. If you put in expensive rules it costs jobs unless you prevent foreigners bypassing them with equally expensive tarrifs on their goods if they don't adopt those rules themselves.

That's not actual evidence though is it? You simply assuming it must be true because it makes sense to you does not make it so.

Using the same logic you could equally say that UK consumers are to blame for taking advantage of lower prices, or unregulated markets are to blame for exploiting workers, or the UK government is to blame for not applying the tarrifs you suggest, or capitalism itself is to blame for putting profits ahead of people.

Why lay the blame at the foot of legislation that is actually trying to, and succeeding, in improving conditions for workers?

Furthermore, the reason why I asked for evidence is that, given the myriad of contributing factors to UK unemployment (not least the banks and cross-party economic mismanagement), the actual impact of EU employment legislation could be utterly miniscule in comparison. Until we have a credible idea of the real world negative impact it is all just anti-EU speculation.

I'm not ranting. And I'm not ill-informed. People leave the Sun and the Mirror lying around at work, and I see nothing but anti-tory and anti-bank stories.

The Sun? Anti-Tory? I don't disbelieve you, I'm just surprised. I know they aligned theselves with New Labour for a while but I thought it was back to business as usual now.

The title says scroungers, not the advert. If you want to get into an argument about semantics, be my guest...

But more importantly, I said originally 'Who blames benefit scroungers for the mess we're in?'. This advert doesn't blame 'scroungers' or 'people who won't work' for the mess the country is in. So it doesn't answer my earlier point.

Are you not able to think for yourself and require press to influence you?

We are to blame. Every third world product we buy puts a British worker out of a job.

Buy British if you want to reduce unemployment but understand there is a huge EU premium to pay in doing that at the moment.

Got to say I happily agree with that (apart from huge).

I've got no intention of arguing over semantics. I did a quick search for what George Osborne actually said about the whole shirkers, strivers, scroungers thing and the ad campaign came up. I thought it may answer your question or at least be of interest.

Same old faces saying the same old things and trying to persaude public opinion to support the slash and burn mentality of this government, in which they see, cannot do wrong, despite the growing dislike of its policies. The government and their supporters are desperate and trying to grasp an increasing amount of straws. It's guaranteed they'll try and bribe people with tax cuts in the 2015 election.

Barmy health and safety rulings ??? I think these are designed to keep us alive and healthy. [building sites are now far safer instead of being death traps].

Working time directives and employment laws ??? Don't these stop companys from imposing 14 hour shifts and paying pittance wages ??

They also provided a little job security [Gradually being eroded away by the Torys]

Without Europe the British employee will be in a sorry state. Just ask anyone currently working for one of the agencies. The Best Connection [agency] is a poor example of an employer. [And used by British Blue Chip Companys]

Its the ultra right wing Torys, Cameron, Clegg,IDS and Co who need stifling.

If slavery and poverty becomes the norm, who cares about growth ???

If you had a brain you would be dangerous....................now go away and stop trolling. It has to be trolling, nobody could constantly post right wing rubbish like you do.

more socialist insults eh:suspect: anyone would think others couldnt have a different view to you! what makes you so overflowing with the grey matter.

you would call anyone a troll that doesnt agree with your "la la land" politics:o
