I don't think it's expensive in comparison to other packages at venues that are about as comparable as you can get (although I do really really begrudge paying that much for a meal anywhere!!) I thought the grounds and externally , the place was gorgeous. Inside, the room you get married in and the dining room are lovely rooms. I wasn't so sure on the evening reception room, but I did see it at about 11am and I expect it would look totally different in the evening. I have seen some pics on google image searches of the evening do and the lights made it look loads better. I though the guest bedrooms we were shown round were a bit hit and miss, some stunning, some I'd not be too pleased to be put in at that price. The place is absolutely lovely, not at all what you'd expect from a chain hotel type place (I thought it'd be orrid!!). The wedding reception venue is a beautiful barn conversion which is away from the rest of the hotel. Ms_Tetley Posted April 25, 2015 Share Posted April 25, 2015 I have worked at Wortley Hall many times over the years and you just cant go wrong having your wedding there ..its great!! also if you have bad weather it has some nice spots inside to take wedding photographs and its roomy so your guests have room to move around. rockonvynil Posted April 25, 2015 Share Posted April 25, 2015 We've just booked our wedding for Wortley Hall, wondering what people's previous experiences have been? So far they are very unwilling to negotiate anything whatsoever and I've found the service lacking as any appointment we have made we have had to wait at least 20 minutes for them to come see us even after booking in advance. We've also dealt with 3 different members of staff all of which have no idea what the other team member has said. Is this normal? We've paid our deposit so can't exactly turn around and say no, just feeling very uncared for I guess. Does it get better? The grounds and building itself look gorgeous and we're really excited to have our wedding reception there. Just wondering if there's a way to sweeten them? We're recently engaged and wondered if anyone has any recent experiences? I've looked at a few venues, but Wortley Hall has stood out due to it's location and look. We had a nosey around on Sunday before someone was due to get married, and it looked gorgeous all set up ready to go. I'd like some positives and negatives if anyone has any since the thread was started? Thanks for your help!! Moonbird .. Ive only been in the old rooms when shooting brides and wedding guests, lovely gorgeous rooms and quite a lot of them too.. so Im sure you could request one when booking. Synthpulse ..
