Mick Philpott guilty of manslaughter

Recommended Posts

I think he will get a whole life tariff (i.e. he'll never be released) due to the nature of the crime and the fact he's already been in jail for attempted murder, the other two probably life sentences but not a whole life tariff. We'll see tomorrow.

Not if the other inmates get hold of him.

Have any of them admitted to starting the fire or saw who did? I remain sceptical.

The jury who heard all the evidence presented in court weren't...

It'll be a whole life but maybe a shorter one..

I think he will top himself, someone like that not being in control anymore, probably will find a way out to end his life.

I think this too but hope he doesn't get chance and has to suffer in prison not being the one in control anymore!

Along with his co-conspirators.

A nastier piece of work is hard to imagine, though I expect another one will be along soon.

He was previously jailed for stabbing an ex girlfriend twelve times, because she had dared to break off their relationship.

Monsters, all three. I hope they have a horrible time in prison.

The reason hanging should be brought back.

Angel.

Philpot will never be released and will probably die in prison either by his own hand or natural causes .He is 56yrs of age.He has to serve 15 yrs minimum so will be 71 by then and I doubt he will get parole .They say he is a hard man at his age he is well past his prime and there will be some hard young men in there ready to pounce as soon as they find out what he has done .

As has been mentioned..even if he was released even now I don't think he'd be a threat to children other than to make another **** up in some far flung crackpot plan. I really don't want to believe he could do what he did, intentionally.

Those that he's about to spend the rest of his life with will not afford him the judicial luxury of differentiating between a parent who made a terrible miscalculation in the plan, and a pervert who sexually preys on and murders children.

Everything else in his life seemed intentional though. Women, and in particular vulnerable young women are safer now that he's behind bars.

It takes effort to hate and the repercussions to ourselves will only perpetuate.

Behind bars and out of sight, and I don't even care if he has a PS3. Job done.

Even if hanging were brought back these 3 still wouldn't be hanged as they were guilty of manslaughter, not of murder.

Actually you've picked up on an interesting point. IF the DP was in existence..would the trial have gone differently..through public opinion. I mean the politicians just love this stuff to get on the back of.

It can't be denied that in the past sentencing and guilt have been, shall we say "highly influenced".

But what about USA? Don't many states with the death penalty routinely electrocute or poison their guilty to death? Ha sthe death penalty deterred others in America

I have never lived in America, I suspect that thiers is a society in which violence is so endemic alongside its apparent addiction to the possession of firearms it is misleading to compare thier statistics with ours.

None the less I do believe that capital punishment should be available.
