cressida
I agree any needy people should be treated by the NHS, but what about the dubious 'Escort Agency' women and prostitutes who earn enough to pay for private treatment?
Halibut
I agree any needy people should be treated by the NHS, but what about the dubious 'Escort Agency' women and prostitutes who earn enough to pay for private treatment? What about them? There are lots of people who possibly could pay for private healthcare, but that's no reason to compel them to is it? Why on earth would you want to persecute prostitutes? They have a hard enough time anyway.

Obelix
People who play rugby for RFU affiliated clubs are covered by an RFU insurance which is paid for out their subs... And there is BMC insurance too... I hate to say it but so? how does that affect the argument above? Ultimately soceity permits us to do these things and everyone gets free health cover regardless of how much they've contributed. That's how the NHS has worked for ages. Everyone gets policing, regardless of how much they've contributed, ditto fire coverage, etc etc. The OP's original proposition just doesnt make any sense. KitKats
This is always a difficult subject and given that prostitutes do not live inside the normal rules of society law abiding paying tax, people feel why should they be protected?? being a woman who could not do what they do ever but while I do not condone breaking the law, most prostitutes are drug addicts who did not choose that way of life. Lots most have been abused and used and some get involved with Pimps who control them, I know other people who have been abused have not ended up on the streets selling themselves. It is just so sad to see young woman my age and younger who have been street walking for years I feel the Police try and do what they can for them to protect them and although some would disagree. The Police are still here to protect them as well underneath they are just people with feelings, who feel same as we do we are all human beings after all they are not robots immune to feelings because of the job they do, but I do agree to a certain degree they put themselves at risk by getting in a car with a man they do not know, how many normal girls go home with a lad they just met on a night out?? similar principle. Irregardless of who pays tax we are all sensitive human beings, the Police coming up with the idea of setting up safe vans in certain areas around Sheffield especially where you see this a lot, but whilst they are there selling themselves you will always have Punters wanting to use their services to put it nicely and Pimps willing to take advantage of them. So could there be an argument for "Should Prostitutes get more Police protection?"...because of their vulnerability?
fairyworld14
Nobody knows what makes these prostitutes turn to this living . We should not judge people so harshly. We don't know what is round the corner in these times of recession & we could find ourselves being forced to take drastic action we normally never even think of .So people should count themselves lucky we don't have to live this way . Prostitutes are entitled to care from the NHS .What would you do ( the original poster ) ,leave them to die on the streets ? Because if that is what you would do ,then you have a horrendous personality. Prostitution has been going on for centuries & will carry on while we have so many problems in the world . KitKats
So could there be an argument for "Should Prostitutes get more Police protection?"...because of their vulnerability? Yes I suppose there should be a thread on this, as I feel they do deserve more protection.
Halibut
Oh a question can't be asked now and why am I persecuting prostitutes? don't be absurd I didn't even remotely suggest that you shouldn't ask the question. How about trying to answer it?
Harleyman
I think protection is absolutely necessary unless a possible dose of the clap isn't much to worry about
