Dawn Kennedy
I am trying to trace Frederick John Murphy originally from Northern Ireland, he went to Sheffield, married Lillian and worked as a steelworkers nightwatchman. He was born in 1904 in Belfast and died in 1972. Would love to know if he has any living relatives?? He died in the Lodge Moor Hospital. Any info would be great. hillsbro
Hi Dawn Kennedy - welcome to the Forum! I don't know if you have information from public records - if not the marriages index shows that a Frederick J. Murphy married a Lillian H. Gilbert in Barnsley in 1938. Possible children are Malcolm J. Murphy, born 1942, Dennis Murphy, born 1944, Terence Murphy, born 1946 and Linda M. Murphy, born 1950. A Malcolm J. Murphy married an Anne Sporne in Sheffield in 1968, and a Linda M. Murphy married a Colin G. Degenhart in Sheffield in 1971. It might be possible to trace all or any of these via electoral rolls etc. Good luck!.
Dawn Kennedy
Many thanks, that gives me a lot to go on!! He was my Grandmother's brother who vanished from Northern Ireland in the early 30's. I have only today discovered that he went to Sheffield via his death certificate. Happy days a lead a last, thanks again.

hillsbro
Hi TicTac - I quite enjoy family history research, and it's nice to know that these bits of information are appreciated! I've been doing this sort of research since the 1970s (I'm 65 today - see my revived "60 today - a milestone or a gravestone?" thread!!) and it's certainly a lot easier to trace ancestors and living relatives now that we have the good old Internet!.
