Jive Juice Ape-ril charity fundraiser

Saturday 13 April 8pm - late

DAda Bar (ex Trippets), 89 Trippet Lane, Sheffield

Free entry

DJs for the night:

Powlo (Thirsty Ear/Jive Juice)

Amy Le Crunch (Jive Juice)

Ian Cracknell (Jive Juice)

Come go ape with us at our little dance at Dada to real r&b, soul, ska, mambo and more - all on 100% good old crackly vinyl.

It's a doubly special party this month - not only is it our Flamin' Amy Le Crunch's birthday bash (woo hoo, bring on the rum!) - but we're also putting on a little fundraiser for Ape-ril, the Sumatran Orangutan Society's campaign to raise money and awareness for the protection of orangutans - the King of the Swingers, no less - and their rainforest home.

Your DJs for the night are: Powlo (Thirsty Ear), Flamin' Amy Le Crunch and Ian 'Jive Juice' Cracknell.

It's free to get in - and we're donating 50% of our own proceeds to Ape-ril too - so please dig deep and spare us a few quid on the night, or follow the links to see what else you could do to support the cause and help our hairy friends.

Party with purpose - come jive in our jungle!

Ian 'Jive Juice' Cracknell Ape-ril chart:

1. Ivory Joe Hunter - I Got To Learn To Do The Mambo (Atlantic)

Supreme slice of r&b meets mambo - stone cold thriller!

2. The Rays - Tippity Top (Chess)

Rockin' doo-wop r&b jiver that's quite literally the tippety tops!

3. Lavern Baker - Tweedlee Dee (Atlantic)

'Hubba hubba, honey dew, I'm gonna keep my eyes on you..'.

4. Chuck Higgins - Oh Yeah (Dootone)

An unadulterated crash, bang, whallop 45 of raucous r&b joy.

5. The Drifters - Hypnotized (Atlantic)

I've become completely addicted to this tune ever since I first heard it - seriously, try keeping still to this!

6. Derrick Morgan - Shake A Leg (Blue Beat)

Irresistable early ska, with Prince Buster's backing band.

7.Georgie Fame - Round Two (Island)

Marvellous uptempo boogaloo-style instrumental version of 'Ali Shuffle' - a proper slice of musical sunshine.

8. Royal Flush - Don Drummond (R&B)

Lovely early ska mover from the Skatalites trombonist.

9. Doc Bagby - Dumplin's (Okeh)

Growling r&b instro stroller.

10. The Sapphires 'Who Do You Love' (Swan)

Gorgeous, haunting femme soul floater.

Really looking forward to tonight, especially as it's in aid of such a great cause. If you can't make it along, but would still like to make a donation towards our Ape-ril fundraiser, you can donate online here: https://ape-ril.everydayhero.com/uk/ian-cracknell
