Goooooogle
A fairly good review by the Star. http://www.thestar.co.uk/what-s-on/out-about/food-drink/food-review-maveli-223-glossop-road-sheffield-s10-2gw-tel-0114-276-6150-1-5672323 I would suggest missing the pops (as they give you free nibbly things anyway -kind of like puffed maize snacks). And for me , I would rather have another starter than the puds (we've tried the gulab juman and the mango delish - they were OK but not as good as the Lamb Ularthiyathu...mmm). Think I will try the Cauliflower or king prawn starter next time...maybe the mutton rolls too...or the podi idly...(is there not a drooling smilie on SF?) allwednesday
Went last night and the aroma of fresh curry leaves hit me soon as I entered I know that smell very well I use them in my own curries I fetch them from paks supermarket in Rotherham well worth the effort! Anyway back to the food we had a masala dosa for starters and it went down a treat very good ! For mains I had the lamb dish very tender pieces in a delicious thick sauce, on the down side the wife had a prawn type curry good flavour but only 4 medium size prawns she only told me on the bus home or I would have had a word about that I enjoyed it tho not sure about the wife tho. LancsLass
Only just a came across this place - looking forward to trying it. As previous posters have said, E&W is really just a cafe, and since it first opened the prices have gone up and the food quality has gone down in my opinion. Dhanistha's food is usually good....if you don't mind the depressing surroundings that is!

Dhanistha's food is usually good....if you don't mind the depressing surroundings that is! Couldn't agree more re E&W. Urban Choola isn't bad but lacking in serious spice (not necessarily heat spice). Maveli is definitely the best of the bunch by a long way. bungleboy69
Since Dhanistas has had a makeover, it's now a much more pleasant dining experience and the service is much better too! The food is still good at Dhanistas (can't remember the new name) but I really like Maveli too.
Katya
Maveli are doing a special Onam celebration meal... http://t.co/5KTNZRBXnr A sadya , 15 or so little courses served on a banana leaf... 15th , 16th and 17th Sept. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onam http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sadya We had this this evening and it is amazing. About 10 different vegetable curries served with red rice (or white if you prefer) and various side snacks plus choice of dessert. £9.99 per head or £6.99 for children. They said they may not do it on Tuesday as they haven't had any bookings so far - strongly recommend it but book before you go as they were fully booked this evening. PeteM01
I paid another visit to Maveli last night and I am so pleased to report that it was very busy but with food as good as ever. In fact, we asked if the spice levels could be increased to a more 'authentic' level. They issued a warning that the food was already quite spicy but we went ahead anyway. The chettinad chicken was every bit as good as Dhantisthas used to be, with plenty of heat but all the other flavours still there. On the subject of Dhanisthas, I have heard a report that they have toned down the dishes there for a more mass-market appeal, Can anyone confirm this?
